El grito contra las violencias machistas y el negacionismo vuelve a las calles el 25N

Madrid. The outcry against gender-based violence and denialism filled the streets of Spanish cities during the demonstrations for the 25N, where women gathered to honor the 38 victims who lost their lives this year. Slogans and banners such as «Being born a woman shouldn’t cost us our lives,» «Your denialism is complicity,» «Your misogyny kills us,» «It’s not abuse, it’s rape,» «Long live the feminist struggle,» and «I believe you» were among the messages displayed by the protesters, who added to the chants as the marches progressed, often accompanied by drumming, to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The feminist movement organized separate events in various cities, including Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla, and Palma de Mallorca, due to disagreements over issues like the trans law, the abolition of prostitution, and the ‘only yes means yes’ law. Despite these differences, the collective remains united in its goal to reject all forms of male violence against women and to combat denialism. This year’s 25N was marked by the government’s proposal to appoint Teresa Peramato as the new Attorney General and by calls for the PP to distance itself from Vox’s policies, as noted by Equality Minister Ana Redondo, who participated in both events.
