Indonesian authorities announced the extension of the search operations for the three missing Spaniards following the sinking of a tourist boat in the eastern waters of the country. The search operation will be conducted over three days, stated Budi Widjaja, who is supporting the families of the missing, after a meeting of the task force. The decision was made after evaluating the information gathered over the seven days of the mission, which is the minimum required by law, including the patterns of the underwater currents in the designated search area. Bernardo de Sicart Escoda, the Spanish ambassador to Indonesia, requested in a letter to the authorities of that Asian country that the search for the three Spaniards who have yet to be found be expanded. The ambassador noted in the letter sent to the National Search and Rescue Agency that this would be beneficial for the families of the survivors, who are waiting to recover the bodies after the ordeal they have experienced.
The search for the missing Spaniards in Indonesia has been extended for three more days.
