In the year 2025, a total of 46 women have lost their lives at the hands of their partners or former partners in Spain. As a result of these crimes, 35 children have lost their mothers, and three minors have been killed due to gender-based violence. Karilena was murdered on 31 January by her partner in Suma de Langreo, Asturias. Since 2003, the number of women murdered by their partners or former partners in Spain has risen to 1,341. In the last year, two girls and one boy also lost their lives due to gender-based violence: Nadia, aged 5 in Murcia; Eva Yasmín, aged 13 in Bilbao; and Samuel, aged 2 in Valencia.
