The Ukrainian leader, Volodymyr Zelensky, declared that he is willing to meet with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to discuss peace in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, following his meeting with United States President, Donald Trump. «We don’t care how or in what format we meet,» he added. «We are prepared,» affirmed Zelensky in statements quoted by the ‘Ukrinform’ agency this Monday, after his three-hour meeting with Trump at the Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. However, Zelensky also noted that Moscow must be consistent in what its president says and does, given that Russia continues its attacks against Ukraine. Zelensky remarked that it is essential for the words and actions of the Russian leader to be in tune. He expressed that it seems «somewhat strange» to him that Putin told Trump he «wants to end the war,» while on the other hand, «makes it clear in the media and in all his messages that he is ready and wishes to continue with the conflict.» I thank President Trump and his team for their efforts in the negotiations. I am grateful to the United States for its support. Together, we are capable of realising our vision for progress towards peace.
