The Vice President of Venezuela appears on television and claims that Maduro is the only president of the country.

Caracas. This Saturday, Delcy Rodríguez, the executive vice president of Venezuela, stated that Nicolás Maduro is the president of the nation. This occurs after United States military forces captured him during an attack in Caracas and other areas of the country. Rodríguez requested the release of Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, who is the president of Venezuela, in a speech broadcast on radio and television. The official led a meeting of the defence council, which included the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, the Attorney General, Tarek William Saab, the president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Caryslia Rodríguez, the Minister of Interior and Justice, Diosdado Cabello, the Minister of Science, Gabriela Jiménez, and the strategic operational commander of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, Domingo Hernández Lárez. Rodríguez stated that the United States’ reaction to Maduro’s call for dialogue has been an aggression that violates the Charter of the United Nations. Rodríguez called on the Venezuelan people to maintain calm and to face together, in national unity, so that this integration of police, military, and popular forces becomes a single entity, thus progressing in the defence of national sovereignty and independence. Rodríguez affirmed that the Government is prepared to protect Venezuela and its natural resources, which must be used for the development of the country. Before Rodríguez made her appearance, the Telesur channel confirmed that she remained in the country, despite rumours about her departure abroad amid the US offensive.
