Three dead from an outbreak of influenza A in a care home for the elderly in Seville.

Three people have died in Seville due to an outbreak of influenza A at the elderly care home of the Hospital de la Santa Caridad, a disease that has also affected four residents and a nurse. According to Diario de Sevilla and sources from the Health Department, five of the ten people affected by the outbreak were admitted to hospital, of which three have died. The Public Health Surveillance service has implemented protocols to prevent further infections, which has led to the suspension of activities at the care home. This includes the scheduled visit by the Hermandad del Baratillo of the Three Kings, which has announced that the management of the institution has requested the cancellation. The brotherhood will deliver gifts to the residents through the staff of the centre. The protocol for managing acute respiratory infections in residential facilities for vulnerable people in Andalusia establishes regulations regarding visits to care homes with flu outbreaks, such as the one that has occurred at the Hospital de la Santa Caridad in Seville, where three people have died. However, it does not prohibit such visits.
