The United Nations.- This Monday, at the UN Security Council, the United States rejected the idea of being at war «against Venezuela» and stated that the capture of its president, Nicolás Maduro, as well as the decision to govern the country until a political transition occurs, do not constitute an occupation. The US ambassador stated: «There is no war against Venezuela or its people. We are not occupying any country.» Before the UN, Mike Waltz expressed his support for Maduro’s detention, arguing that US forces arrested «a drug trafficker» who will be tried for «the crimes committed against the American people over the past fifteen years.» Furthermore, he claimed that «Maduro is not only an accused drug trafficker, but he was also an illegitimate president.»
The United States denies before the UN that it is at war with Venezuela: «We are not occupying any country.»
