The White House spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, affirmed that for President Trump, all alternatives are on the table as he considers what is beneficial for the interests of the United States. However, she emphasised that the President’s preferred option has been diplomacy, in response to a question about whether the U.S. is considering military actions in Greenland. Leavitt mentioned that the proposal to incorporate the island is not new and stated that several U.S. presidents have considered this measure advantageous for U.S. security. The spokesperson highlighted that the President believes that the most beneficial course for the interests of the United States is to prevent aggression from Russia and China in the Arctic region. For this reason, his team is discussing possible purchasing options.
The White House says that Trump’s first option with Greenland remains diplomacy.
