The United States warns that it will control the sale of oil from Venezuela for an «indefinite» period.

Miami (USA) This Wednesday, the United States Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright, announced that the country will maintain control over the sale of oil from Venezuela for an «indefinite» period and that the revenue generated from these transactions will be deposited into accounts under Washington’s supervision. Wright stated that oil being extracted from Venezuela will be traded, starting with the crude oil that is currently being held, and they will then continue to sell Venezuelan production on the market. The Secretary declared that he is collaborating with Venezuelans following the announcement by US President Donald Trump regarding the delivery of between 30 and 50 million barrels of oil from Venezuela to the United States for marketing in the North American market. The official reported that Washington will authorise the export of oil from Venezuela to refineries in the United States and other countries; however, these transactions will be carried out by the US government, and the funds will be deposited into accounts under its control. Wright stated that those resources can return to Venezuela to help its population, but it is necessary for us to have control and authority over oil sales to promote changes in the country. Wright’s meeting with energy sector executives took place a day after it was made public that Venezuela will send between 30 and 50 million barrels in storage vessels to unloading ports in the United States, according to Trump, who is expected to host leaders from major oil companies at the White House.
