However, it has emphasised that diplomacy has been the Republican’s priority. The White House spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, stated that President Trump believes all alternatives are available while he evaluates what is most beneficial for the interests of the United States, but she stressed that his first choice has always been diplomacy. Leavitt mentioned that the proposal to incorporate the island is not new and asserted that several U.S. presidents have viewed this measure as advantageous for the security of the U.S. The spokesperson highlighted that the president has expressed that the most beneficial course for U.S. interests is to prevent aggression from Russia and China in the Arctic region, and his team is discussing possible purchasing options.
