This Thursday, the President of the USA, Donald Trump, declared that ground operations against drug cartels will begin, which, in his words, «are controlling Mexico.» «We will initiate a ground offensive concerning the cartels,» Trump stated in an interview with Fox News. His comments come less than a week after Washington conducted an operation to arrest President Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela and bring him to a Federal Court in New York to be tried for «narcoterrorism.» «The cartels are controlling Mexico. It is heartbreaking to observe and understand what has happened in that nation. However, the cartels are taking control and causing the deaths of between 250,000 and 300,000 people in our country annually,» the Republican remarked in the interview.
