Nicolás Maduro from the United States: “We are doing well, we are fighters.”

Caracas. The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, stated from the United States, where he is detained along with his wife, the deputy Cilia Flores, that both are safe and that they are fighters. This information was shared by Nicolás Maduro Guerra, son of the Chavista leader, who mentioned having spoken with the lawyers. In a statement, the state channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV) reported that Maduro’s son met with members of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and sent a message on behalf of his father and Flores, who were detained on 3 January in Caracas by US forces. Maduro Guerra claimed that the lawyers informed him that they are well. The legislator denounced that force was used against Maduro, as they failed to defeat him by other means, according to the state channel. However, continued VTV, he emphasised that he feels strong and firm and that his leadership has not been subdued despite the difficulties he faces in US territory.
