Spain is open to reinforcing the security of Greenland through NATO if there is a threat.

This Monday, the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, called for an end to the «pressures» on Greenland, which is a territory of Denmark, and suggested the possibility of increasing its security if Denmark, as a NATO member, feels it is threatened. Albares indicated that he does not consider an attack by the USA on Greenland even a possibility, but emphasised that if Denmark believes that Euro-Atlantic security is not «adequately safeguarded,» Spain, along with its allies, is prepared to «evaluate it, study it, and strengthen it.»
