Gideon Saar, the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs, declared that Israel has decided to sever its relations with seven UN agencies and associated organisations, including UN Women and the Alliance of Civilisations. Saar determined that Israel will suspend any relations with UN agencies and international organisations. Israel will also refrain from establishing relations with the Office of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, for having included Israel on the list of countries that commit violations against children’s rights in situations of armed conflict. Israel had cut relations with the ministry in June 2024. Regarding UN Women, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlights that the cooperation agreement with the organisation was annulled as of July 2024. The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) are mentioned, which Israel criticises for issuing reports critical of Israel.
Israel immediately severs ties with seven UN-linked agencies and entities.
