The Congress’s investigation committee on the flood plans to summon Feijóo on 27 January.

The investigative commission on the flooding in Congress intends to summon the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, on 27 January to explain the information he received regarding the disaster and his public statements. The deputy from Compromís, Alberto Ibáñez, who acts as the spokesperson for Sumar in the commission, announced this at a press conference, and sources from the PSOE have corroborated it. Both the PSOE and Sumar have agreed to invite Feijóo to appear on 27 January, so this proposal is expected to be approved. However, it will be the commission’s board, which will meet on 20 January, that will formally determine the upcoming appearances. Parliamentary sources indicate that another extraordinary plenary session in Congress is likely to be called at the end of January, and if it is scheduled for 27 January, a new date would need to be found for Feijóo’s appearance before the commission. At the press conference, the representative of Compromís pointed out that Feijóo has distorted the truth in his public comments about the flooding, as he was aware that the Government offered the UME to the Valencian Generalitat. Furthermore, he reiterated that Feijóo should resign from his position. For 20 January, José Manuel Cuenca and Emilio Argüeso have been called to appear before the investigative commission on the flooding in Congress.
