Copenhagen.- The Danish Ministry of Defence has reported that, starting this Wednesday, it will increase military presence and training activities in Greenland, a Danish territory that the United States seeks to acquire, in cooperation with NATO allies, in response to rising tensions in the Arctic. «The goal is to develop skills to operate under Arctic conditions and strengthen the Alliance’s presence in that region, which will benefit European and transatlantic security,» stated the Ministry of Defence in a press release. The presence of «aircraft, ships and troops, including NATO allies,» will be increased, the ministry added. Planned actions for this year include safeguarding community infrastructure, supporting authorities, hosting allied forces, deploying combat aircraft, and military operations for the Navy.
