The first day of the doctors’ strike continues with great disparity in participation figures.

The first day of the doctors’ strike took place this Wednesday, showing variation in participation figures across the eight regions where it has been called. According to the unions, the percentage of participation is high, while the health departments report low figures. The strike, organised by the Professional Group for a Medical and Healthcare Statute, is aimed at professionals in Madrid, Catalonia, the Basque Country, Galicia, Navarre, the Valencian Community, Murcia, and Asturias, as well as Family doctors across the country. This protest has brought together demonstrators in various Spanish cities. Its purpose is to protest against the framework statute of the Ministry of Health and to demand a specific statute for the profession, an initiative that has been backed by a political party, Vox, which has presented a proposal for the Catalan Parliament to urge the Generalitat to request a medical statute from the central government.
