The two women who filed a complaint with the Spanish judiciary on 5 January for cases of harassment and sexual assault in 2021 by the singer Julio Iglesias agree that their intention in reporting is to encourage others to do the same and to prevent them from suffering abuse. Amnesty International has issued a statement indicating that, according to the complaint, these women «allegedly experienced forms of violence by Julio Iglesias between January and October 2021, while working on properties owned by the accused in the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas.» «According to their statement, the accused supposedly attacked and harassed them, inspected their mobile phones, forbade them from leaving the residence where they worked, and imposed working hours of up to 16 hours a day, with no days off and without a contract.»
The former employees who have accused Julio Iglesias say they did it so that it doesn’t happen to others.
