Putin and the president of Iran advocate for an early de-escalation of the tension surrounding Tehran.

Moscow.- This Friday, the leaders of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, discussed over the phone the need to reduce tension in the Islamic Republic, which has been the centre of protests against the government in recent weeks, protests that have been suppressed by the authorities. The Kremlin’s statement indicates that «Russia and Iran, from a position of mutual support, are committed to reducing tension related to Iran and the region, as well as resolving issues through political and diplomatic methods.» Pezeshkian communicated to Putin the actions that Tehran is implementing to «normalise the situation in the country.» Furthermore, both leaders expressed their support for strengthening the «strategic partnership» between Moscow and Tehran, as well as for the execution of their joint economic projects.
