Brussels.- The customs duties that US President Donald Trump has proposed against European nations that sent forces to Greenland and do not support his annexation project for the island «could trigger a downward spiral,» warned the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of the European Council, António Costa. «Tariffs could damage relations between Europe and America and create a downward spiral. Europe will remain united and committed to protecting its sovereignty,» both European leaders stated in a joint communiqué.
