Venezuela and the United States are making progress in the process of reactivating the Venezuelan embassy in Washington, with diplomatic exchanges and meetings between foreign ministries scheduled for this week, according to sources close to the negotiations. Progress has been made in negotiations between representatives of the Venezuelan government, led by interim President Delcy Rodríguez, and the administration of President Donald Trump, with the aim of reopening the Venezuelan embassy in Washington and the US diplomatic mission in Caracas. The negotiations include the reactivation of Venezuelan embassies in the United States, which have been closed since 2019 due to President Nicolás Maduro’s decision to sever bilateral relations. The United States has kept its embassy in Baruta, within the metropolitan area of Caracas, closed since that year. However, following Maduro’s departure, State Department personnel have been working on the possibility of reopening it.
