US troops eliminated a leader associated with Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State in Syria, who was responsible for the ambush that resulted in the deaths of two US soldiers and a civilian interpreter in December, according to United States Central Command. CENTCOM conducted an attack in northwestern Syria on 16 January as part of a series of US operations.
