The Syrian government announces a four-day ceasefire with the Kurds.

Beirut, (EFE).- This Tuesday, the Syrian government declared a four-day ceasefire with the Syrian Democratic Forces, aiming to negotiate a regional integration plan. This decision follows a prior agreement reached on Sunday, which resulted in clashes between the parties. The Ministry of Defence issued a statement announcing that the ceasefire across all operational areas of the Syrian Arab Army will begin at 20:00 (17:00 GMT) this Tuesday, 20 January 2026, and will last for four days. Previously, the parties had reached a similar agreement on Sunday, which allowed government forces to regain control of areas occupied by the Kurds in the provinces of Al Raqqa and Deir al-Zour, although this was accompanied by outbreaks of violence.
