The chairman of NATO’s Military Committee acknowledges differences among the Alliance’s members.

Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, President of NATO’s Military Committee, stated that unity is «essential» among the members of the Alliance and that there can be disagreements that «strengthen» them. «I can assure you that there is one fundamental aspect: cohesion is the most important characteristic of this group.» There are disagreements among us, which is customary in a coalition of democracies. However, these differences can enrich us and strengthen us,» Cavo Dragone affirmed at the beginning of a meeting of NATO Defence leaders. The Italian officer made this statement amid tensions regarding the United States’ desire to exert control over Greenland, an autonomous territory that depends on Denmark.
