Tonight, the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, expressed his sadness over the death of the train driver who was involved in an accident in Barcelona, sharing a message on the social network X that began with the phrase: «this is too much.» «I lament the death of another train driver in the train accident in Gelida (Barcelona) and I hope for the recovery of the injured,» expressed Feijóo on X. The leader of the opposition mentioned in his message that he has communicated to the President of Catalonia, Salvador Illa, «our concern and support for the emergency services.» Fifteen other people have been reported injured, according to sources close to the incident. Around forty units from the Firefighters of the Generalitat and twenty ambulances from the Medical Emergency System (SEM) have arrived at the accident site, along with agents from the Mossos d’Esquadra. Due to the accident which occurred on a rainy day in Catalonia, the Ferrocat plan has been activated. The emergency number 112 has recorded 28 calls related to this incident. On Tuesday night, a second railway accident occurred in Catalonia: a train derailed after colliding with a rock that had fallen onto the track, which was caused by the weather conditions. The incident took place on the R1 line of Rodalies, between Maçanet Massanes and Tordera (Barcelona). According to information from Adif, there were ten passengers on board the train that had the accident, and no injuries have been reported.
