Rodalies will partially resume its service in Catalonia this Monday with a month of free travel.

Rodalies will resume its service this Monday in Catalonia, covering 87% of users following the suspension over the weekend. The service will be free for a month, according to José Antonio Santano and Sílvia Paneque. The Department of Territory of the Generalitat of Catalonia held a meeting to monitor the Rodalies crisis, with the participation of representatives from the Generalitat, Renfe, Adif, and Santano, who offered a press conference with Paneque. Santano acknowledged issues of coordination in managing the rail crisis and mentioned an agreement with the train drivers’ union Semaf to certify the operability of the tracks. As the tracks are validated, sections and lines that are not available will be reopened this Monday, when the service will begin at six in the morning. Paneque indicated that the recovery of service will focus on sections of Rodalies and Regional lines that have a high number of users, once Adif and Renfe provide safety guarantees. Santano reported that Adif, with engineers and geologists, will complete inspections of 69 points at risk of incidents between today and tomorrow. Works are being carried out at 23 critical points to ensure the safety of the service. This weekend, 150 people are working on these projects, a number that will increase to 330 tomorrow with more monitoring and logistical support staff. Santano asserted that Adif provides the Government with the requested guarantees within the limits of a modern model in accordance with European standards.
