Óscar Puente says that «from the very first moments» it was known that there were two trains involved in the accident.

This Thursday, the Minister of Transport, Oscar Puente, affirmed that following the railway accident in Adamuz (Córdoba) on 18 January, in which 45 people lost their lives, the authorities were already aware that two trains were involved in the incident. From the very beginning, there was knowledge of the presence of two wrecked trains, and emergency services were alerted. Puente made this statement at the start of his address in the Senate, at the request of the PP, to report on the railway accidents in Adamuz and Gelida (Barcelona), as well as on the issues with the Rodalies service in Catalonia.
