Tehran.- This Sunday, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, asserted that the warnings from the United States do not intimidate the Iranian people and warned that any confrontation could result in a regional conflict. “Americans need to understand that if they decide to initiate a military conflict, this time it will be a regional war,” Khamenei declared during a meeting with people to commemorate the anniversary of the return of the founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, to Iran after his exile, ten days before the triumph of the Islamic Revolution of 1979. The political and religious figure of Iran stated that his nation would not initiate a confrontation but would respond to any aggression, referring to the United States, which has dispatched a fleet near Iranian waters in the Persian Gulf and has warned about the possibility of war if an agreement is not reached with Tehran regarding its nuclear programme.
