The Minister for Youth and Children, Sira Rego, has expressed her support for the idea of restricting and possibly prohibiting the use of the social network X among young people and the population, arguing that it is an environment where violations of rights occur. The minister made these statements during an event on digital activism, where she defended that the digital environment is controlled by digital leaders. Her comments come following the announcement by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, that Spain will prohibit access to social networks for those under 16 years of age and will take measures to increase control over digital platforms, demanding that their executives take responsibility for violations. This announcement led billionaire Elon Musk, owner of X, to label Sánchez as a tyrant and a traitor to the Spanish people. At the event, Rego asserted that the next battle should focus on restricting and likely prohibiting Twitter.
