CCOO, UGT, and Semaf are maintaining the strike next week across the entire rail system.

The main trade unions in the railway sector – CCOO, UGT, and Semaf – have decided to continue with the strike scheduled across the entire railway system from 9 to 11 February, after the second meeting with the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, concluded without an agreement, although negotiations will continue this afternoon. Representatives from the three unions informed the media after a three-and-a-half-hour meeting that the Ministry of Transport has committed to dialogue with the Ministry of Finance to explore funding options for the unions’ demands. Additionally, meetings will be held with the State Railway Safety Agency to improve the operational conditions requested by the workers’ representatives. Today marks the second day that Puente is meeting with the unions, although so far the meetings have not resulted in commitments regarding the unions’ demands. On Wednesday, sources from the Department of Transport indicated that the meeting took place in a positive atmosphere, with the intention to continue dialogue and reach an agreement that responds to the group’s requests.
