This Sunday, Japan’s Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi, declared herself the winner in the snap general elections for the House of Representatives, and it is expected that her coalition will increase its majority, according to estimates from the public broadcaster NHK. According to surveys conducted at polling stations, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) would secure between 274 and 328 seats out of the 465 available in the House of Representatives, NHK reported. Thus, Takaichi would achieve the absolute majority of 233 seats that she had set as a target.
The conservative Takaichi wins the elections in Japan and expands her majority, according to local media.
