The Interior suspends another officer for coercing the complainant of the ‘number two’ of the National Police.

Madrid. This Wednesday, the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, stated that his ministry was unaware of the incidents reported regarding an alleged sexual assault carried out by José Ángel González, the deputy head of the National Police, against a subordinate colleague. Furthermore, it has been decided to suspend another commissioner who allegedly pressured the victim not to file a complaint. The minister has affirmed that, had he been aware of such a serious situation, he would have requested his resignation. He also emphasised that the evidence showing that neither the ministry nor the Directorate General of the Police were aware of these events is that, as soon as they learned of them this Tuesday, action was taken immediately.
