The PP summons Zapatero on 2 March in the Senate over the ‘questionable’ rescue of Plus Ultra.

Former Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero is to appear on 2 March before the Senate committee investigating the Koldo case, to provide clarifications regarding his possible involvement in the public financial rescue of the airline Plus Ultra. Sources from the party have reported that Zapatero has been summoned for that date by the committee’s board, where the Popular Party holds the majority, and that it has met virtually this Thursday. The president of Plus Ultra, Julio Martínez Sola, as well as Julio Martínez Martínez, nicknamed Julito, who is considered a possible proxy for Zapatero, have been called to appear on 25 and 26 February. Since December, the three had been on the list of individuals required to appear before the Koldo committee, and they were still awaiting the establishment of a date for their statements before the senators. In the twenty months that this investigative committee has been active, it has conducted around one hundred appearances, making Zapatero’s the 103rd.
