Ione Belarra, the leader of Podemos, has stated that her party is the left-wing option to defeat the right and dismissed other proposals that are based on electoral strategies, warning that this approach could lead citizens to think they should support the PSOE. At the beginning of the meeting of the State Citizen Council, Belarra mentioned that in Spain there is discussion on how to stop the extreme right, referring to the initiatives of Gabriel Rufián and the new coalition Sumar, but asserted that Podemos has a different proposal. She suggested that the left should stand up and go out to defend this cause, fighting to halt this reactionary offensive, with more rights in the streets and in the institutions. Additionally, she dismissed other left-wing options that are based on analysis of the electoral law and parliamentary mathematics to determine which candidacy might have the greatest chances of success in the elections, as this could lead citizens to think that the most beneficial course is to support the PSOE.
