Trump says he will raise the new global tariff to 15%.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that he will increase the new tariff on imports from all countries by 15%, a measure approved following the Supreme Court’s decision against his tax policy. He made this announcement through a post on the Truth Social platform, stating that the increase will be «immediate». The legislation he used in the recent executive order on tariffs only authorises a tax increase of up to 15% and at intervals of 150 days, which raises uncertainty about its long-term implementation. The Supreme Court ruling affects the global basic tariff for foreign imports and the «reciprocal» taxes applied to trading partners, in addition to including additional tariffs of 25% for Mexico and Canada. Decisions to raise tariffs on Brazil and India by 50% are being considered in response to the trial of his ally, former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, and the acquisition of Russian oil. Prior to signing the new legislation, Trump had expressed his disagreement with the Supreme Court’s actions during a press conference at the White House.
