The haze keeps the entire Canary archipelago on alert.

The presence of calima will maintain a ‘yellow’ alert level across the entire Canary archipelago, and visibility will be limited to approximately 3,000 metres, according to information provided by the State Meteorological Agency. The islands of Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro, and Tenerife have issued alerts that will remain throughout the day, and Aemet’s projections indicate that this situation will continue tomorrow. Additionally, it has been reported that suspended dust originating from the Sahara is crossing the Atlantic and reaching South America. In the Canary Islands, calima is causing reduced visibility and deteriorating air quality. This situation is expected to improve starting Wednesday. Temperatures have risen, exceeding 30 °C in some areas. According to meteorological information, visibility will be restricted to approximately 3,000 metres. In the mountainous islands, this phenomenon will first affect the intermediate areas and then spread towards the coasts, being more pronounced on the east and south slopes. This circumstance has been occurring for several days due to the arrival of an African air mass loaded with dust in the air, which has also resulted in an increase in temperatures.
