Brussels.- This Monday, the foreign ministers of the European Union were unable to overcome the objections of Hungary and Slovakia, preventing the approval of the twentieth package of sanctions against Russia, which had been planned to commemorate the four years of conflict in Ukraine. «We have not managed to reach a consensus on the twentieth package of sanctions.» It is a setback, but we continue with our work,» stated Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security, during a press conference following a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the community. Regarding the absence of the necessary consensus to move forward with the new series of sanctions, Kallas commented that «we have experienced this situation before; we have also shown that we can find solutions together.» She added, «We are holding talks at various levels with our colleagues from Hungary and Slovakia, to advance with this package.»
The EU foreign ministers fail to agree on sanctions against Russia for 4 years of war.
