Brussels.- This Tuesday, the European Parliament expressed its concern over the tendency of the United States to focus on «temporary agreements» to achieve peace in Ukraine, which would allow it to maintain «strategic stability» in its ties with Russia. Furthermore, it called for «genuine dialogues that lead to global, just, and lasting peace.» In a statement on the fourth anniversary of the beginning of the conflict, the European Parliament highlighted the efforts of the United States government to put an end to Russian aggression in Ukraine, although it expressed reservations about the strategy of these negotiations, suggesting that Washington «seems to prioritise» its strategic relationship with Russia. For this reason, MEPs urged the European Union and its member states to «continue collaborating with the U.S.» and close allies to ensure that negotiations for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine are conducted sincerely and to bring a definitive end to Russian aggression against Ukraine. «The persistence of attacks by Russia does not reflect its willingness to engage in genuine peace talks,» they warned.
