Zelensky rejects Kremlin accusations regarding alleged plans to nuclearise Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed the Kremlin’s claims regarding alleged plans by the United Kingdom and France to provide nuclear weapons to Ukraine, noting that this accusation is an attempt by Russia to distract from the situation on the front lines. «When Russia fails to achieve victories on the battlefield, it seeks a nuclear option in Ukraine. Unfortunately, there are no nuclear weapons in Ukraine,» Zelensky stated during a joint press conference in Kyiv with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, with whom he agreed to increase bilateral cooperation. Ukraine once possessed the third-largest nuclear arsenal in the world, which it gave up in December 1994 in exchange for Russia’s promise to guarantee the territorial integrity of the country. «Everyone is aware of the circumstances that led to this and who was responsible,» Zelensky added.
