Madrid (EFE) This Thursday, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, denied that he suffers from a cardiovascular disease, in response to a rumour that has been propagated by the right and the far-right, which he believes demonstrates that their only strategy of opposition is disinformation. Sánchez responded on social media to the information released this week by ‘Libertad Digital’, which claimed he was suffering from an illness for which he was receiving treatment at the Ramón y Cajal Hospital in Madrid, as well as to the comments that this news has elicited. The right and the far-right have been proclaiming the end of this Government from day one. Now, in addition, they are spreading rumours about my health. «I do not suffer from any cardiovascular disease, but even if I did, it would not be a problem; there are millions of people who have such conditions and lead normal lives thanks to the public services that they are dismantling,» wrote the president. Government authorities had already denied this information after its publication, and Sánchez, in his statement, emphasises that both the right and the far-right have been proclaiming the end of his term from the very beginning, and now they do so by spreading rumours about his state of health. «The mechanism of disinformation operates in the same way: a rumour is spread through a false medium, its representatives amplify it, and its commentators pollute public debate,» he points out. In his opinion, the right and the extreme right show that lying is their only strategy of opposition, which demonstrates that the Government is acting correctly. The leader of the Executive states: «The Government will remain in power for a while longer.»
