Pakistan bombs Kabul, the Afghan capital, following clashes on the border.

The Government of Pakistan claimed to have carried out bombings in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, and announced that it has entered into an «open war» with its neighbouring country, marking an escalation in the conflict between the two nations since the Taliban regained control. The representative of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mosharraf Zaidi, communicated that Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes targeted «military objectives» in Kabul, Paktia and Kandahar. The Taliban spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid, asserted that attacks have occurred in the capital and stated that there are no reports of injuries. Mujahid declared that Afghanistan conducted «operations against Pakistani military positions in Kandahar and Helmand.» Since Thursday, Taliban government troops and Pakistan are engaged in clashes in various areas along the border, following the initiation of a coordinated operation by Kabul along the Durand Line. This comes five days after airstrikes conducted by Pakistan. According to Zaidi, the attacks in Pakistan have resulted in the deaths of 133 Taliban members and left over 200 people injured.
