The manager of the CNIO, José Manuel Bernabé, resigns following the alleged harassment case reported by the former secretary general.

José Manuel Bernabé has resigned as manager of the National Centre for Oncological Research (CNIO) following the revelation of a harassment case brought forward by the former general secretary. The CNIO’s board met in an extraordinary session and was informed about Bernabé’s resignation. The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities announced that it would request the dismissal of the manager. This entity will hold another meeting to assess the current situation and the future of the centre, according to a statement. The request for dismissal and the resignation have come to light following the dissemination of news in the media. The CNIO is conducting an investigation into the complaint filed by Laura Muñoz in the Human Resources department against the manager, concerning her employment situation and her request for protection against possible reprisals. Muñoz mentions changes in her professional dynamics and unusual personal treatment since Bernabé took up the role of manager.
