Inflation in Spain remains at 2.3% in February, the same rate as the previous month.

Madrid (EFE). In February, inflation has remained at 2.3%. This behaviour is due to the decrease in electricity prices, although it is countered by the rise in fuel and lubricant costs, as well as the prices of restaurants, accommodation services, and non-alcoholic food and beverages. This Friday, the National Institute of Statistics (INE) has released the preliminary data for the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for February, which, if confirmed, would interrupt the three-month trend of deceleration since the peak in October (3.1%). This February, the INE presents preliminary information on various special groups, including processed foods, beverages, and tobacco; unprocessed foods; energy products; and services. The year-on-year rate for the special group of energy products was the only one that remained in negative figures, reaching 3.1%. The rate for unprocessed foods stood at 6.7%, while that for food, beverages, and tobacco was 3.5%. As for services, the rate was 2.3%, and that for processed foods, beverages, and tobacco was 0.9%, as was the rate for industrial goods excluding energy products. In February, the overall rate excluding energy products is 2.9%, while the overall rate not including food, beverages, tobacco, or energy products stands at 2.8%.
