Madrid. This Tuesday, the Spanish Government responded to the threats from US President Donald Trump, stating that Spain is fulfilling its obligations towards NATO and European defence. Furthermore, it reminded him that if he wishes to review the trade relationship between the two countries, he must respect international law and the existing agreements between the EU and the US. Sources from the Government have reacted to Trump’s statements, in which he claimed he plans to suspend trade with Spain due to its stance on the offensive against Iran, expressing that he does not want to have a relationship with the country following the Spanish Government’s refusal to allow the use of the Morón and Rota bases for military operations against Tehran. He also mentioned that Spain has been a partner for NATO and warned that no one will tell him that he cannot use its facilities.
