Bilbao. This Wednesday, the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has pointed to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, for «putting the security of Spain at risk» due to his stance against the attack by the U.S. on Israel and Iran, a conflict that is linked to electoral interests. Feijóo addressed this topic during a conference at the Fórum Europa in Bilbao, where he emphasised that Spain «must align itself with its allies», as otherwise it would be left «without an operational framework». Furthermore, he made a call to the EU and the U.S. that the «unstable government» of Spain should not be confused with its population in general. The leader of the PP has indicated that Spain needs to maintain its ties with the United States, regardless of the «differences» that may exist with the U.S. President, Donald Trump. He stressed that this relationship must be nurtured, «as partners in the EU». «We cannot drift away from the framework of EU partners solely due to the political or partisan interests of the President of the Government,» he added. In his opinion, foreign policy «must prevail over the interests of parties and the ideology of the acting president», and thus Pedro Sánchez should «protect the general interests of Spain». He has underscored that Sánchez should not take advantage of his political interests «to harm the security of Spain and its global position», and he added that the president aims to undermine support for the radical left.
Feijóo accuses Sánchez of going «against the security of Spain» for electoral interests.
