Tension in Brussels over Von der Leyen’s comments on the «no longer existing» world order.

Brussels (EuroEFE).- This Tuesday, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, has been criticised by other high-ranking officials of community institutions due to her comments made the previous day, in which she stated that Europe «can no longer be the defender of the old world order.» The President of the European Council, António Costa from Portugal, and the Vice President of the European Commission, Teresa Ribera, are the personalities who have distanced themselves from Von der Leyen. In addition, there have been criticisms from the European Parliament, the Spanish government, and several experts. The leader of the European Commission was already under pressure for her stance, which some capitals consider to be favourable to the US-Israel bloc in the Middle Eastern conflict. In fact, this Monday she also asserted that the Iranian regime did not deserve to shed «a single tear» for its potential downfall.
