The judge in the Super Cup case charges the former president and the manager of La Cartuja.

The magistrate investigating the former president of the federation Luis Rubiales and Gerard Piqué, in relation to the contract that moved the Supercup to Saudi Arabia, has accused the president and the director of the public company responsible for managing the La Cartuja stadium in Seville. The investigation centres on determining whether they obtained illegal profits from the work carried out on the stadium. This concerns José María Arrabal, who was president of the public company ECSSA until December 2024, and Daniel Oviedo, the current manager. The judge of Court of Instruction Number 4 in Majadahonda has decided to open an investigation against them due to evidence found by the Central Operational Unit of the Civil Guard. The judge wishes to investigate whether both, who held positions in the Junta de Andalucía in 2021, received a potential illegal economic benefit from granting several contracts to the company Gruconsa for the adaptation of the press room, access turnstiles, and stadium lighting, with a total value of approximately 3.3 million euros. These works were requested following UEFA’s decision to designate La Cartuja as the venue for the Euro Cup final. This choice led the public company responsible for the stadium to request a subsidy from the Junta de Andalucía, which was approved for a total of 4.9 million euros. According to the Civil Guard, after the works, both Arrabal and Oviedo purchased properties in Malaga and Seville, respectively, in September and November 2021, excluding approximately 53,000 euros from the mortgage in both cases.
