The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, reported on the death of a French soldier in an attack at a French base in Erbil, Iraq. Since 2015, French forces have been involved in the fight against terrorism in the region. Macron stated that the attack on troops fighting against Daesh is unacceptable and that their presence in Iraq is linked to the struggle against terrorism. Warrant Officer Arnaud Frion, from the 7th Alpine Hunters Battalion of Varces, was killed during the attack in Erbil. Macron conveyed the Nation’s solidarity to his family and comrades. He also mentioned that there were French soldiers injured and that France supports them and their families.
