Petro claims that Colombia is being bombarded from Ecuador.

The President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, stated that his nation is being attacked with bombings from Ecuador, following the discovery of a bomb dropped from a plane near the border with that country. An investigation will be conducted into the methods in the border area with Ecuador. Petro’s accusation comes in the context of the trade war between the two countries, which began in January when the Ecuadorian President, Daniel Noboa, announced the implementation of a 30% security fee on Colombian imports, due to the inaction of the Colombian Government in the fight against drug trafficking on the border. Colombia imposed tariffs on 73 products and suspended electricity supply to Ecuador, prompting Noboa’s Government to increase the fee for transporting Colombian oil through one of its pipelines. Since 1 March, the tax has been raised to 50%. Petro expressed that there have been explosions and announced that he will soon share a recording that his Government received from Ecuador about what happened. The President also mentioned that last week, during a phone conversation with Donald Trump, he requested that he intervene and communicate with the President of Ecuador, as they do not wish to enter into a military conflict. The sovereignty of the country must be respected and the situation is tense, making it crucial to make appropriate decisions.
