The Court of Auditors will investigate the management of the Community of Madrid in the Quirón and Ribera hospitals.

The Court of Auditors will carry out an investigation into the management of public hospitals that the Community of Madrid has granted to Grupo Quirón and Ribera Salud, following a complaint from the PSOE that pointed out irregularities. In a document accessed by EFE, the Court of Auditors decides to initiate a public action piece in relation to that complaint and requests the PSOE that, if they wish to carry out the public action to demand accounting responsibility, they must present themselves within a period of nine days and specify the cases that may have occurred. On 20th February, the PSOE lodged a complaint with the Court of Auditors against the Government of the Community of Madrid, accusing it of a possible detriment of public funds due to the supervision and control of billing between directly managed hospitals and the centres operating under private concession. The socialists presented to the Court of Auditors an internal report indicating that the Ayuso Government would have waived 71 million euros to Quirón and Ribera Salud due to a debt generated by the care of patients from these private entities in the public health system. This situation is linked to the system of free choice that is applied in Madrid’s healthcare.
